ABOUT US

WHO WE ARE

The Sanctuary of Delphi is a church established by Biblical truth and committed to making disciples. Our purpose at The Sanctuary is to “make disciples” of Jesus Christ. We do this through prayer, the Word, personal involvement, and fellowship. We encourage every individual to passionately follow, serve and grow in Christ.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Sanctuary of Delphi  is a church whose purpose is to make disciples of Jesus Christ. We are founded upon the belief that the Bible is the inspired, infallible Word of God. We believe in the great commission and are endeavoring to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with love, mercy and compassion.

We believe there is only one God (Deuteronomy 6:4). He is the creator of heaven and earth, and of all living beings. He has revealed Himself to humanity as the Father (Creator), as the Son (Savior), and as the Holy Ghost (indwelling Spirit).

We believe in water baptism by immersion in the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of sin.  Through baptism we identify with the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-14; Acts 2:38.

We believe in the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the initial sign of speaking in other tongues. Acts 2:4

We believe in the manifestation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. He ministers to His people through tongues, interpretation of tongues, prophecy; words of knowledge and wisdom, discerning of spirits, faith, working of miracles, healing, helps and government. Mark 16:15-18; Acts 5:16; 2 Corinthians 12:1-11

OUR PASTORAL STAFF

Pastor and Sis. Lee and Daicia Stephens

Lee has served The Sanctuary Church since 2017 and was elected pastor in 2020. He was a church planter in a Nashville, TN suburb prior to moving to Delphi to serve this church. Lee became an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International in 2012.  He has worked in ministry for over 20 years and has been trained in marriage enrichment and financial stewardship.  Lee has a love for people and wants to help people to grow spiritually and relationally. Lee loves to spend time with his family (Daicia, Levi, Lincoln, Judah and Jeremiah), read a book, or admire old cars…oh, and drink coffee…He loves coffee.

Daicia grew up in an apostolic home that prioritized serving the Kingdom of God.  Because of this upbringing she has a great passion for Christian education, prayer, and serving the church wherever needed.  She loves to worship, you will see her in most services as part of our praise team, singing or playing the keyboard. Daicia, a Delphi native, counts it an honor to serve the church she grew up in.

Bishop and Sister Timothy and Holly Stewart

Tim has made Delphi his home since early childhood. In 1972, he experienced Pentecost and felt a call to the ministry shortly afterwards. He studied and completed each level of licensing, ending with Ordination, through the United Pentecostal Church International.  Becoming a member of the Delphi Pentecostal Church in 1972, he was active in all areas of ministry and in 1984 was elected as Pastor of the church. He filled this office for 36 years. Currently, he is serving the church in the office of a Bishop. He fills the role of Dad to many sons and daughters and the favorite roll of Grandpa to the sweetest kids on earth.

Holly was born and lived in Lafayette until she married in 1974. She graduated from Jefferson High School and attended Purdue University for a brief time. Wanting a large family, she and Tim have been blessed with natural, adopted and many bonus children in their family. Those years were spent in homeschooling and church youth related activities. These children and their families bring her great joy. From 2013 until April 2020, she served as the Ladies Director for our section. Since 1994, Holly has been a volunteer at the Birthright Crisis Pregnancy Center and was elected Director in 1999, an office she still holds.
